End Date: September 24th, 2024) Salary Range: $28.60-$29.10 Employee Group: SEIU Service Reporting Relationship: Manager, LTV, Respiratory Continuing Care and Respiratory Therapy “Join Our Team: Transforming Lives and Enriching Care as a Client Care Attendant” Position Overview: As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Certified Care Attendant (CCA) fulfills assigned responsibilities related to patients' daily routines and fundamental care requirements. Working within the framework of hospital guidelines, protocols, and the unit's care delivery approach, the CCA executes tasks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, ensuring patients' well-being and comfort. Responsibilities: • Follows KARDEX for patient care needs, including communication, meal assistance, transferring, ambulation, toileting, hygiene, and grooming. • Executes individualized care plans, addressing instructions such as diet restrictions, safe transferring, pressure ulcer prevention, restraint use, fall prevention, and assisted communication. • Reports patient condition changes to the Registered Nurse promptly and objectively, including skin integrity, mental status, sleep patterns, nutritional factors, weight, bowel functions, and behaviors. • Assists with psychosocial patient needs, responds to call bells, answers phones, supports healthcare team, provides coverage during breaks, attends meetings, and contributes to a safe environment. • Documents care and changes in patient condition following hospital policy, using Core Care Summary and Progress Notes. • Operates equipment like lifts and wheelchairs, ensuring functionality and notifying staff of concerns. • Maintains a safe environment by adhering to safety standards, identifying and preventing safety issues, attending safety meetings, and using personal protective equipment. • Exhibits the center's core values and contributes to patients' well-being. Key Qualifications: Required (Minimum): • High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent education. • Personal Support Worker Certification obtained from either an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology program or an Accredited PSW Educational Program. • Experience preferably at least one year of full-time equivalent work experience within the past three years. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a courteous approach towards the public. • Proficiency in working collaboratively as a team member within an interprofessional environment. • Capability to follow directions while also being able to work independently. • Fundamental computer skills in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word), Internet usage, and Outlook Express. • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance in the current or previous roles. • Strong attendance and punctuality record. Desired/Preferred: • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate.
